La Opinión

The site of the proposed headquarters for La Opinión, the Spanish language newspaper for Southern California, is located in downtown Los Angeles at Olympic and Broadway. Occupying an entire city block, the building will house all offices, printing facilities, and support programs for the newspaper. Additional public programs include retail space, subterrainean parking, a musuem for printed media, union meeting hall, and daycare facilities for the children of employees of the paper. The project is essentially composed of two buildings: a large carpet building houses all production facilities and a portion of retail along Broadway, covering the entire site. A long tower hovers above housing offices and administration. The linear tower strengthens the wall of the Broadway corridor, and deforms towards the southern end to visually mark its transition.
