Laguna Beach Residence

Located on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the addition of a poolhouse and master bedroom wing reorganized the site into two distinct domains, public and private. A primary wall separates the entry drive and garage from the privacy of the pool and the rooms which open onto it. Three full-height pivoting doors connect the master bedroom to the outdoor room of the pool, which foregrounds dramatic views to the coastline below. The discrete poolhouse delimits the adjacent side, amplifying a sense of privacy along with an awareness of nature.
